Bittersweet Symphony (That's Life)

I must say that i am torn between moving to Cali and staying here. My feelings are such that i am so use to living here with very few surprises and little change that moving seems so adventurous and maybe even scary. But after meditating the two, i feel they are the same. My utah life was a huge adventure that is now winding down with Jeremy graduated, two kids under my belt and hitting 30 this year. Now our new adventure begins with Sarah starting school and Jeremy beginning a very good career. We have many high hopes that we will be successful in our new ward, in our new home, in our new career, etc. the list could go on and on. This life in Utah has been good to us. We have survived college, hit many rough patches, relied on the Lord and clung to family and friends. I will miss being here and seeing so many familiar faces that i have grown to love very much. I hope that we will be able to remember these friendships and carry them over to the new ones that wait for us in California. I would like to say this " Make new friends, Keep the old, Those are Silver, These are Gold." So no matter how you look at it, you end up with Gold friends!
Make new friends,
but keep the old.
One is silver,
the other is gold.

A circle is round,
it has no end.
That's how long,
I will be your friend.

A fire burns bright,
it warms the heart.
We've been friends,
from the very start.

You have one hand,
I have the other.
Put them together,
We have each other.

Silver is precious,
Gold is too.
I am precious,
and so are you.

You help me,
and I'll help you
and together
we will see it through.

The sky is blue
The Earth is green
I can help
to keep it clean

Across the land
Across the sea
Friends forever
We will always be

You know you are getting old when.....

1.Your daughter is turning 5 a week from today
2.She can sing Strawberry Fields Forever by herself
3.She can correct you when you say a naughty word like Shut Up
4.She has her own sense of fashion and it doesn't agree with you
5.She can tell you exactly what she wants for her birthday and is expecting it too!

Funny Words

The other night, while the kittens were away, the mice(jeremy and I) decided to out to dinner with his mother. I wasn't sure what i wanted to eat until the word SURF and TURF came into my mind. It threw me back a decade to where sizzler, red lobster, etc. would compete using this advertising logo to describe their new menu items. as if seafood alone wasn't enough, now you needed a huge steak to go along with it. no wonder we are getting fatter! I remember how it was such a huge hit and everyone wanted SURF and TURF. Instead that night we went to Little Italy in Provo. If you live close by you have to eat there. It is the best Italian food ever. I had the Dante sandwich and it was perfecto! It is owned by an Italian Man and wife and they hardly speak english and they have a whole gelato section, but the food....oh the food... i have never been disappointed.

Tomorrow is Earth Day!!

Hey I know you are thinking,"how can i get involved with helping my planet stay green?" I have many answers but some of the easiest are: Reduce, Reuse, Recylce(freecycle). I love when Jack Johnson sings about these 3 R's. If you have access to recycling your paper products and plastic, then by all means do it! If you look closely at alot of your paper boxes, ie: mac & cheese, hamburger helper, graham crackers (the list goes on) you will notice they are made of recycled paper. Pretty great to see it come full circle! If you haven't joined a freecycle group, then you are missing out! One man's trash is another man's treasure!

Also, don't be afraid to pull some weeds, start a compost pile and plant a garden. These things help keep us self-sufficient and busy! To say the least(too late) there are so many things we could do to show our Father in Heaven that we love the world he gave to us. Each of us can do a small part, and together we can make a big difference! Happy Earth Day!! PS it is my neice's birthday too-so a shout out for Emerald-Happy Birthday Sweetheart!

Provo Airport

A week ago, Sarah's school went to the Provo Airport for a live tour. It was the most fun we could have had out in zero degree weather. Actually watching a helicopter take-off and land was really cool. We watched a jet take-off and some single engine planes fire up for flying lessons. Sarah got to sit in the cockpit of a SEP with her santa hat and pretend to fly with her buddy Casey. I loved that it was free and the plane had a sticker on it that was my grandmother's maiden name. Pretty cool field trip!

A blog for Tamra Staiger

So I love to branch out and make foods that are slightly unconventional for the normal, college-aged american. I remember Tamra thinking this was amazing. well if you thought making fish and curried lamb were amazing well then i need to catch you up on the last month of food. When i was in the store a few months ago i thought i would hit the seafood isle but pick something other than a fish. So i bought a large bag of Mussels. I thought " oh boy this could be interesting." but much to my surprise, when these mussels were steamed with a homemade tomato sauce they were super delicious. the best part was the mussels are extremely small not like a huge oyster. My next adventure was making corned beef another way not just in the crock pot. No matter what way i cook it i still am not a fan of the fatty, salty meat. Then since Easter was just a week away i made sure to grab myself a nice leg of lamb. Now lamb just happens to be my favorite meat in the whole world. I should live in europe or the middle east where it is a common meat. i seasoned the lamb with a Scottish recipe and it was so delicious. It was tender and just the right size for the whole family to feast for Easter. But then i saw some yummy ground lamb at the store and snatched that right up. Last night I out did myself with Lamb meatballs, my own recipe, just throwing spices in left and right and making my own bread crumbs and man, on man it was great. I made a gravy to accompany the rice and meatballs and then sauteed up some mushrooms and leeks for the veggies and it was HEAVEN! My next feat is Venison. I have a large piece in the fridge thawing right now. i hope to make some venison steaks or kabobs and with the rest of the meat a Solamnic Stew. How Medieval!

The Warren's Excellent Adventure

So many of you have been wondering 'where in the heck' we are moving to now that Jeremy has done some interview. Please sit for a minute and guess.....hmmmmm.... this is a toughy. well i am happy/sad to tell you all that we will be moving back to California. My girls will be California girls like I was but they will live closer to the beach. We are looking for places in Glendora, La Verne, and San Dimas. That's right folks. San Dimas High School Football Rules!!! I never grew thinking that i could settle and live my life and raise my kids in San Dimas, where Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure began and captivated a whole generation! They are pricey places to live but hopefully we will save our money and be able to buy a home and get sarah into a good school. We will be sad to say good bye to our friends here in Utah and they will be missed but at the same time i am excited to start our own Excellent Adventure!
Be Excellent to each other and.....Party On Dudes!
